this is my online diary, a place where I will maybe ramble or talk about more curated topics.

entry one - a return to coding
it's interesting how easy it was to pick up html and css again after not using it for around 4 years ... it felt like how muscle memory works. or well I guess that's just how the brain works in the first place.
I still have much to learn, but w3schools is saving my life right now. honestly, the hardest part is filling in the images! the visual element is the most important step for me so I tend to quickly get past building the layout so I can fill *something* in or else I just go bweh
a part of me wants summer, or at least a proper spring, to arrive already ... it's making me sad looking at how warm my site looks compared to all the snow outside. I do also think though I need to add more stuff to the home page. it feels too busy with text for my liking, but these sites are like living creations so they'll always see some changes in the future.
speaking of ... I need to get rid of the mindset of 'sticking to one theme'. and by that I mean one character or piece of media. my site would probably benefit from just having visual cohesiveness rather than a strictly sticking-to-one-media look. likeeee this page! my soon-to-be made shrines will be where I can flex my individualised design skills. and on the subject of pages that have yet to be made: my about me. oops I made the blog/diary page first because I was imagining it before I fell asleep last night and so I knew I had to work on it first!
to end off: coding a site isn't as difficult as one may think. like anything we create, it requires a lot of time and patience. but, there are plenty of tools that are free and avaliable to help guide your hand. for instance, I'm using vscode and a preview plugin, both extremely easy to set up and better in the long run than using say, the w3schools tryit editor (yes, I did exclusively use that in the past). you can even plan layouts out on paper, like I did.
take your time, be patient with yourself and your site, and you can create anything you dream of.
